Longest Day Ride Checklist and Information PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

Hey folks,
We’re getting closer to the LDR and we’re well on our way to having everything taken care of. This is where we are:
  • Hotel is booked.
  • Bike rack is installed on the top of the tahoe
  • Everyone is registered (except crash)
  • We have a sag driver (Marc Malamut)
Here is a quick checklist to use when packing for the LDR.
  • Tubes. Each person should have 4 tubes for their bike. If you’re riding a recumbent, you’ll need at least 3 for each wheel since the tire size is different.
  • Jersey – Please be sure to don your Team Hangover Jersey!
  • Tools – Ill have tools for common issues, but if you need something special, you’re responsible for it. (I guess this is for you, Al.)
  • Cash – You’ll need cash for the following:
    • Hotel room. We have two rooms – we’ll split everything down the middle. The rooms are supposed to be $90 each.
    • Food – This ride makes you hungry. We make plenty of stops and you’ll need cash for food at the hotel or wherever we stop.
    • Gas – I take wear and tear on my truck, so please kick in for gas. Remember, “betsy” will have a lot of miles to travel.
    • Incidentals – Please have extra cash for incidentals. Just in case something happens.
    • SAG Driver – Marc is making a big commitment to drive for us. I’d like to make sure we pay his way and maybe throw him a few bucks.
  • Clothing – Bring a bathing suit! The hotel has a pool. Also bring clothing in case of rain – windbreakers for the morning are wise also. Please also bring two pair of biking socks – you should change them in the middle of the ride.
  • BEER BEER BEER! – We don’t have a designated beer duty person. So what we can do is bring a cooler and get beer along the way. We go through a lot at the end, so Im going to ask everyone to pitch in.
  • FOOD – We need fuel during the ride. We’ll hit a wawa and get fruits, bars, sandwiches, etc. for lunch. You’ll need it.
  • ADVIL/ASPRIN – Pain happens. Bring your supply.
That’s all I can think of right now. Expect another email from me for more information. I’ve gotta go see what Neil Cherry is up to on the LDR website.
Get Excited!
Team Peon.

As I sat and sipped my beer at the local pub a nice woman ordered a tuna sub to go. She sat and listened to me talk about our donations and efforts to raise money for cancer and MS every year. She leaned over to me and said, "hey, i have MS and i really apprecitate all that you guys do to help the cause"... she then took out her checkbook and wrote me a $50 check.

I was amazed and astonished that someone, whom I've never met, would write me a check for the cause. She also didn't ask questions about our cycling team, but trusted me wholehardtedly.

Thank you Lisa for the kind donation to Team Hangover.

The money will go to our team in our efforts in raising money toward the cause for MS.

She told me to use the money for the team for anything we needed it for to ride for the cause. What a nice woman. I was touched.

Thank you Lisa!

It was a wonderful ride through three states: DE, MD and PA. The hills were awful hard on the calves, but we did it. Thanks to Ixsa and Skinny Steve for joining me on this wonderful adventure!

Team Hangover Preps For LDR 2011 PDF Print E-mail

thAs June quickly approaches, the team will scramble to do the longest ride of the year, "The Longest Day Ride. "  June is quickly approaching. If you'd like to join us, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

CJBC's Longest Day ride is an annual self supported, double century, double metric or century route (your choice). The majority of the riders prefer to do the double century (90%+). The double century starts in Port Jervis, NY, near the NJ High Point Monument, traverses the north-western part of NJ closely following Rt 206, then moves east in the plains of Central Jersey and then through the Pine Barrens down to Cape May. The first third is hilly but nothing too terrible (this from a flatlander ;-). In the central and southern part of the state the traffic drops off and and so do the hills. It rolls through the acres of farm lands and the NJ Pine Barrens. And, of course, the final destination, the Cape May Lighthouse. Fortunately you won't go anywhere near the industrial section of NJ like that seen in the opening of the Soprano's.

Team Hangover Finishes 185 Miles in Two Days PDF Print E-mail

teamhangoverms150What a fantastic time was had by all! Four members of Team Hangover made it 185 miles From Woodcrest Station in Cherry Hill to Ocean City, NJ. It was wonderful that no one got a flat (Jeff wasnt there with us) and there were little to no mechanical problems! Crash didn't fall, nor was there any injuries. Our friend Al Wolf (Bent Buddy) joined us as well. Pete Blume, our new member, was nice enough to come down and bring us a cooler full of beer!

Also, Skinny Steve's father, Russell was nice enough to handle our cooler and luggage!

Special thanks to everyone that helped us complete our ride. Next year we will recruit more people and make it a bigger and more organized affair. This year was very last minute. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR on the MS-150.

msWaking up at 4 am for what? Yep, you guessed it - its that time of year again. Team Hangover will be participating in the MS-150 City to shore ride once again to ride for Multiple Sclerosis. Our route plan is to do 100 miles down to Ocean City, then sleep it off, and ride the 75 miles back.

Skinny Steve, Crash, Shawn and Myself will be sticking together on the route to pull and push each other down the meandering roads through hammonton and the shore points. We intend on stopping a lot of times along the way, but we'll get there eventually! Come down to Ocean City High School to see us at the finish!

Hope to see you there!
